Ann completed her City and Guilds in 2003 and has taught City and Guilds Embroidery and Patchwork for the past 5 years. She also runs freelance workshops on a variety of techniques. Ann has had work published in Stitch, Classic Stitches and Workbox magazines.
Ann is inspired by nature in close-up detail, which she puts down to being short-sighted as a child and having to peer closely to see things. Another recurring theme in her work is the treasures hidden beneath the earth, whether fossil or mineral.
Ann is also interested in architecture and the layers of history it displays. Her own work is often constructed in layers, revealing and concealing what is beneath. She frequently uses photographs taken on travels with her husband, a photographer, for inspiration.
