Members: Linda Dewart Linda works in many media dependent upon her subject and currently her favourite combination is stitch on paint.
Ongoing is work on a collection called “See-through Women” which explores a phenomenon experienced by many women of a certain age!! She likes to work with life paintings and then include layers of net and stitch to create strident images designed to confront and challenge this silly notion! Lately she has expanded this to include others who live – by choice or otherwise – outside of the strict constraints of the western “norm”.
Her other work has included “Sewing the Seeds” which looked at botanical explorations of the 17th and 18th Centuries, and “China Challenge” which explores both the country and a personal struggle to trek along part of The Great Wall for charity.
Linda is currently joining fellow Textilia III member, Catherine Slater, running two-day workshops called “Felt it Finish it” which involve creating soft fine felt further enhanced using an electric embellisher.
Linda works to commission on interiors and accessories and is available to give talks and workshops, particularly enjoying helping people develop their textile ideas. See also Workshops. T: 01943 603235
